Kapaa

The hotels of Kapaa offer you a great opportunity to see the island of Kauai from main street Lihue, the sandy beaches of Hanalei bay, the seclusion of Na Pali. Situated on the eastern side of the island, Kapaa town is a pleasant place to spend a couple of days making a base for further excursions around the island.

Shopping in Kapaa is as fun and varied as the town itself. The best opportunities can be had at Coconut Plantation Marketplace, Kinipopo Shopping Village, Wailua Village, the Waipouli Shopping (Foodland), Kapaa Shopping Center and Kaua‘i Village Safeway centers and in downtown Kapaa.

The main attraction in the area is the ancient Hawaiian Heiaus and other archeological sights. The area was, and to a certain extent still is used by the community for religious ceremonies. Care and respect must be taken when visiting these sights and please do not leave any trash or tokens. One of the larger buildings is located across the street from the Sunspree resort and could possibly be one of the largest structures on the island, if not the entire chain.
